Addiction
It is often the most sensitive and intelligent people in our society who struggle with addiction. How else can we tolerate the injustices, the coldness, the uncertainty, and the losses that come with life and world we live in?
People hide away in their busy schedules, drown their thoughts in television, numb their emotions with food, sex, shopping and big purchases, or escape altogether through the use of drugs and alcohol.
Maybe we never saw people dealing with and “working through” their feelings of anger, frustration, overwhelm, grief, depression, anxiety, disappointment, and shame in a healthy way. Maybe we just haven’t yet found our own way.
No matter how subtle, the cost of substance abuse and addiction eventually becomes too high. It keeps us stuck, limits or jeopardizes our finances, sabotages our relationships, and erodes our physical well-being.
This is a safe and non-judgmental, and supportive environment in which to learn how to tolerate and even befriend your own emotions to form a new way of living.
