Anger Management
Are you angry all the time, suffering with constant dissatisfaction and irritability?
For some people, everything seems fine and under control until a wire gets tripped causing you to explode or fall apart. Maybe this looks like a shout, a push, or a punch, a rant or escalating up to tornado-like destruction.
Or perhaps your anger goes inward: a clenched jaw, stomach-aches, depression, or high blood pressure.
Often these feelings and incidents are accompanied by feelings of shame and low self-esteem.
Anger is a normal and even necessary response to threats to our emotional and physical well-being. Were it not for this emotion, our species would be extinct, so my job is not to eliminate this emotion from your arsenal of responses.
The key word is management, and managing an emotion as primal as anger is a skill and an art that has to be learned and practiced. In learning how to manage our reflexive reactions, we can harness our anger to form a better sense of ourselves and more satisfying relationships with others.
Yes, it's possible, and late is better than never.
